The FIU nuclear physics groups invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in experimental nuclear physics. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in carrying out research in line with the GlueX physics program in Hall D at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility where we are currently focusing on the photo-production of eta and eta prime mesons and studying the eta prime pi zero system. The successful candidate is expected to carry out original research and play a leading role in our GlueX effort specifically supporting amplitude analysis efforts and optimizing the neutron detection capability of the GlueX detector.
The initial appointment will be for one year with an extension to two years, contingent on performance. Longer extensions will be contingent on both performance and the availability of funding.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics. A strong background in data analysis, programming (C++, Fortran, Python etc. ) and Monte-Carlo simulation is required as well.
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to Job Opening ID 519362 at facultycareers.fiu.edu and attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests as a single pdf file.
