The P̄ANDA experiment represents the central part of the hadron physics program at the FAIR facility that is under construction at GSI in Darmstadt. In the early stages of the experiment, during the commissioning phase, a proton beam instead of an antiproton beam will be provided by the accelerator and the reduced Day-1 setup will be available. One of the first experiments that could be performed already during the commissioning phase are cross section measurements of π 0 and η production in proton proton reactions. The reconstruction efficiency for photons, π⁰, η and protons of the Day-1 setup has been studied using PandaRoot simulations. In addition the full meson production chain including baryonic resonances has been simulated and efficiencies for complete final state reconstruction have been determined. There are some losses due to the incomplete Day-1 setup but the relevant phase space for those reactions is covered sufficiently well. P̄ANDA will be able to contribute to the measurement of total as well as differential meson production cross sections with high precision. Moreover a first study on the channel p̄p → φφπ⁰ has been performed. P̄ANDA could play an important role in confirming the existence of the predicted 2 ++ glueball resonance in φφ and measure its properties.

The PANDA experiment at FAIR in Darmstadt (Germany), which is currently under construction, will provide excellent opportunities to search for exotic states in anitproton-proton annihilations. Various experiments observed tensor resonances in the phiphi system in the same mass region where Lattice QCD calculations predict the tensor glueball. The determined magnitude of the reaction exceeds expectations from a simple application of the OZI rule by two orders of magnitude, which was interpreted as a hint for a possible intermediate glueball state. Therefore, the reaction pbarp->phiphi is considered to offer a gluonrich environment and will be studied at PANDA by performing an energy scan at center of mass energies between about 2.25 GeV and 2.6 GeV. Contributing resonances in the phiphi system can then be identified by means of a mass independent partial wave analysis. In this contribution, studies will be presented that have been carried out in order to address the feasibility to identify contributing resonances produced in this formation process, utilizing the partial wave analysis software PAWIAN.

The PANDA experiment is one of the pillars of the new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, currently under construction in Darmstadt, Germany. PANDA will be a fixed-target experiment which will study non-perturbative strong interaction phenomena in antiproton-proton collisions in the beam momentum range of 1.5 - 15 GeV/c. Strangeness production will be addressed through pbar p -> Hyperon-Antihyperon processes. The results of a feasibility study to measure the pbar p ->Sigmabar Lambda reaction, at antiproton beam momenta of 1.771 GeV/c and 6 GeV/c are presented and discussed in this paper.
